What Ever Happened to Rocky Balboa’s Pet Turtles?

Rocky Balboa famously went the distance against Apollo Creed in the original Rocky film, but the real fighters might be his pet turtles, Cuff and Link. The red-eared slider turtles, which Rocky purchased from Adrian's pet store in the 1976 movie, have since appeared in the 2006 sequel Rocky Balboa and the 2018 film Creed II. Sylvester Stallone posted a selfie with Cuff and Link in 2018, in which he guessed that the turtles were around 44 years old. It clearly takes a hard shell to make it in Hollywood, but the two female turtles have had a relatively easy life, going on set for their close-ups but then living comfortably in a home aquarium the rest of the time. The pair could live well into their 50s or 60s, making them more than ready to reprise their Rocky roles for many years to come.

A Rocky road:

  • Even though he was nearly broke at the time, Sylvester Stallone turned down an offer of $300,000 USD for his Rocky script if he could not act in the film.
  • Laurel Hill Cemetery in Philadelphia has a grave for Adrian Balboa, with her death date marked as January 11, 2002.
  • Rocky III was the first time Mr. T used his now-oft-quoted "I pity the fool" line.
